~~Welcome to the official website for the City of Rufus, Oregon. Rufus is located off of Interstate 84, in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge,100 miles east of Portland and 100 miles West of Pendleton. Rufus is primarily a residential community with a current population estimate of 275. We also feature small commercial businesses catering to both local residents and interstate highway travelers. The nearby rivers offer a lot of different recreational opportunities such as camping, fishing, windsurfing, para-sailing, rafting, and boating. Rufus is 1 ½ hours away from Mt. Hood in Oregon and 1 ½ hours away from Mt. Adams in Washington.

A public meeting of the Budget Committee of the City of Rufus, Sherman County, State of Oregon, to discuss the budget for the fiscal year July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015, will be held at Rufus City Hall, 304 W 2nd Street Suite 100, Rufus, Oregon. The meeting will take place on the 12th day of May, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to receive the budget message and to receive comment from the public on the budget. A copy of the budget document may be inspected or obtained on or after May 9, 2014, at Rufus City Hall between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Any questions contact, Jaclyn McCurdy, 541-739-2321.
